XCritic: Highly Recommended; ‘Rambone XXX’ Debuts at #3 on AVN Chart
VENICE, CA – Critics are responding overwhelmingly to Bonnie Rotten’s directorial debut and in the best ways possible: with amazing reviews.
Her To the Core (Mental Beauty) received Art Koch’s 5 Star Feature and he gets straight to the point: “Whether you are into the kinky or BDSM style of sex or not, there is no question Ms. Rotten is a force to be reckoned with in front of, and now, behind the camera.”
“The cast was superlative in their performances and in spite of the genre; it was obvious these ladies had a great time led by Ms. Rotten, who once again displays her amazing talents in so many different ways,” he writes. “The visuals that she creates in each piece are exquisite.
“With Girlfriends Films as the distributor of her line you can bet that things will even get bigger, better and hotter from performer, writer and now director Bonnie Rotten,” he continues. “This was one hell of a debut that has award nom written all over it and extremely worthy of To The Core being my ‘5 Star Feature’ for this week. Go and get hold of this one, it may be very different for some, but the view of Bonnie and her ladies will be well worth it.”
XCritic has also weighed in, with Don Houston dishing the accolades. He weighs in on the performer-turned-director issue since in the past many performers have been quote-unquote directors just to get some press for the movies. Bonnie, he makes clear, is not one of those.
“All three of the featurettes showed Bonnie making actual directorial choices, consulting with the crew at times, going over scenes with the cast, and included interviews & photoshoots; making one of the best BTS’s series I’ve seen in awhile.
“I felt Bonnie could be credibly considered ‘the director more than many of her peers (who conveniently leave out any BTS footage on their own credited works), adding a new dimension to this world class proven young lady,” he concludes.
Credibility accounted for, Houston goes on to put the movie under the microscope. The result? A Highly Recommended review where he calls To the Core “a great debut.”
“Give this one a chance and you will see why fresh ideas can combine with an experienced crew to make the kind of porn some of you have yet to experience,” Houston writes.
One of Bonnie’s biggest movies of the year so far is Rambone XXX (DreamZone), which has debuted at #3 on the AVN Top 150 Sales and Rentals chart.
