A New Way to Connect With Fans – and Make Some Money Doing It
VENICE, CA – There are two things that performers in the adult industry are good at and one of them—sex—they’ve already figured out how to turn to their financial advantage. The other thing many in the adult business have mastered is social media, but finding a way to make money through tweeting has proven evasive. Until now.
Enter SnapGirlz, a new social service operating exclusively through popular mobile apps (specifically Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram) that allows adult stars to connect with fans in a new, exclusive way—and to make money doing it. Fans, eager to score exclusives from their favorite stars pay $5.99 a month for access to content that is not posted to general followers.
Subscriptions for each performer are capped at 3,000 followers; ensuring exclusivity and continued intimacy. On Snapchat, content comes in the form of “MyStory”—10 second videos—that offer insight into the stars’ lives that fans can watch (and reply), an experience uniquely different from the other social platforms adult stars use to connect with fans.
“SnapGirlz is a social media fan engagement company whose mission is to help talent monetize their social following,” SnapGirlz CEO Nick Stone says. “Imagine a sexy, X-rated mobile reality show—then throw in a bunch of bubble baths, showers, toys, bed talk, tanning, outdoor adventures, karaoke and over time you’ll almost feel like you’re in a relationship with her. It’s a lot of fun!”
Performers are suggested to post twice each weekday, though many do so more frequently. Content includes XXX material, but is in no way limited to hardcore content. SnapGirlz is intended to allow stars to connect with their fans in a fun, different and intimate way. Fans get access they would never have gained otherwise, and performers have the financial incentive to keep that relationship strong and fresh.
Fans also have the opportunity to send snaps back to the performers, and with a limited number of followers it is easier for them to get the attention of their favorite stars.
“There is definitely a symbiotic relationship developing between girls and their fans, as well as a greater degree of interactivity than even we’d originally envisioned,” Stone says. “Most of the talent enjoy looking at the inbound snaps that they get from their members and often snap a message back when they can.”
SnapGirlz was launched at the end of 2013 and already has 34 signed on—28 porn stars and six amateurs. Participants thus far include Siri, Sophie Dee, Mia Malkova, Tia Cyrus and Tiffany Tyler.
Slantist published an article about SnapGirlz this month, “The Parasocial Girlfriend Experience – Yours for $5.99,” that gives a fair take on the new company. Check out the full article at http://slantist.com/snapgirlz/.
