Director of the Year Nominee Wrapping Up Slew of New Releases
VENICE, CA – Barrett Blade has a lot to be happy about this holiday season. With 5 nominations for the upcoming AVN Awards, including the coveted Director of the Year award, critics are finally starting to see just what the talented visionary is capable of, and what fans have known all along.
This week XCritic released their list of Highly Recommended movies for the month and Barrett’s bestselling big budget release Bikini Outlaws from Wicked Pictures was at the top of their list!
“Mix in a little Spring Breakers, some Grindhouse filters and some hints of Tarrantino and that pretty much sums up this one,” explains reviewer Sean DPS. “Overall kudos to Barrett for this one, [who] deserves some attention for it.”
It’s just the latest glowing review for the scintillating big budget release, which also took home an Editor’s Choice from both AVN & XBIZ, as well as perfect reviews from Inked Angels and others. It’s also nominated for several awards at this year’s upcoming AVN Awards in Las Vegas, including Best Director Feature, Best All-Girl Group Sex Scene, Best Drama, Best Supporting Actress, Best Music Soundtrack, and last but not least Best Non-Sex Performance for the cameo Blade had.
“I really poured my heart and soul into this project,” explains Blade. “I’m beyond thrilled by the reaction the movie is getting and can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve got planned next!”
Last week the world got a taste of Blade’s versatility when several mainstream sites ran galleries of his highly anticipated Bronie-themed feature Tasha’s Pony Tales, which comes out in January from Girlfriends Films. This week the in-demand auteur wraps up his latest project, Angelic Asses 2 for Devil’s Films. The all anal release also features adult superstar Tasha Reign, along with Aleska Nicole, Sheena Shaw, and Bailey Blue. It’s set to hit stores early in 2014.
“I love shooting,” Barrett explains. “Whether it’s a glossy big budget feature or no holes barred, down and dirty gonzo, doesn’t matter. I’m happiest when I’m on set.”
