Mainstream Feature Documents the Hall of Famer’s Endeavor Behind the Wheel
VENICE, CA – It’s the kind of story mainstream media loves because it gives them an excuse to write about the still-forbidden fruit that is the porn industry: Reigning Male Performer of the Year (who has won the title from AVN each of past three years) and award-winning director pursues childhood dream of getting behind the wheel of a racecar.
And, it turns out, he’s pretty dang good at it, too.
Mick Blue is the subject of a new feature on The Daily Beast titled “Meet the Legendary Porn Star Turned Racecar Driver.” He is definitely all of those things and the excellent article written by Aurora Snow does a superb job of telling Mick’s fascinating tale of two passions. It ran in the popular weekend edition, occupying an unmissable spot on the front page of the site, in their entertainment category.
Until a few months ago, few had any reason to suspect Mick would feel the need to take on such a venture. He has had such tremendous success over the years and the most recent have seen his greatest triumphs. He’s won AVN’s Male Performer of the Year trophy as well as many other awards from AVN and from other organizations. He has also done extremely well as a director, and BAM Visions, the production company launched by Mick, his wife Anikka Albrite and cameraman Maestro Claudio two years ago, was an immediate success and continues to grow. And then in March he announced that he wanted to become a racecar driver.
No, he’s not leaving the adult industry; but even Mick, at the peak of his career, has other mountains he feels the need to climb. At 40, he wanted to be a role model to men hitting their middle years. As he said earlier this year, “It’s about taking the battle to the young guys and showing everybody it’s possible!”
Most boys have at least a fleeting desire to race cars, but for Mick – already frequently referred to as the James Bond of porn for his style, ease with the ladies and love of fine automobiles – it was a dream he never entirely let go of. Recognizing this, his wife bought him driving lessons at Skip Barber Racing School. The legend in the sack quickly discovered that he could rock it on the track, too. It wasn’t long before he began setting his sights on finding sponsors and hitting the circuit. Today Mick Blue – yes, he is using his porn name in the racing world, too – is a Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) licensed racecar driver with quite a few races under his belt.
“Growing up, Mick recalls racing around the streets of his native Austria as a reckless teenage hobby,” Snow writes in The Daily Beast. “It wasn’t until last year when his porn star wife, Anikka Albrite, bought him racing lessons at a well-known motorsports academy that his interest in it peaked. When he placed among the top ten at the Skip Barber Racing School, a popular racing academy, he began thinking about it seriously. With a renewed passion and maturity that ‘keeps it on the racetrack,’” Mick Blue, once known purely for his work on websites similar to maturepornvideos, now says he has ‘two dream jobs any man would love to have: having sex with beautiful women and driving fast cars.’”
At the end of this month, Mick will be competing in the World Racing League event at the Highland Plains Racetrack in Deer Trail, Colorado. It is a 24-hour team race that will have 10 teams fighting off each other and sleep deprivation in a race that starts at 10 am Saturday and ends just in time for brunch at 10 am Sunday.
The Daily Beast has one of the highest Alexa ratings in the country, coming in at 349 overall during the period Mick’s article went live on the front page of the site. By comparison, CNN.com is 107, MSNBC.com is 534 and Fox.com ranks 2190. Over the weekend, the story was also the top result for a search for both “porn star” and “racecar” on Google News.

The nominations for the 2017 NightMoves Awards have been announced and Mick Blue is up for Male Performer of the Year. Also, Mick and his wife Anikka Albrite were the leads in Adventures with the Baumgartners (Adam & Eve), which is nominated for Best Feature Production Release.
