Industry Putting Its Best Face Forward As 2013 Comes to an End
VENICE, CA – It would be hard to look at the new release shelf this month and not realize that Bonnie Rotten is the biggest star in the adult industry. She has several covers—many of them solo—for movies streeting in December.
In this week’s releases, Performers of the Year 2014 (Elegant Angel) features Bonnie. It’s appropriate since she has three Female Performer of the Year nominations, two from XBIZ and one from AVN, as well as a Favorite Female Porn Star nom from AVN.
Also among the covers forthcoming for December are Sexually Explicit (Girlfriends Films), Tattooed Goddesses (Jules Jordan Video), Seeking Women 100 (Girlfriends Films) and My Tattooed Freak (Wicked). It’s an amazing streak for such a small window, revealing just how popular she has become.
Bonnie may be the first heavily-tattooed starlet in adult to burst to superstardom in the industry without being tethered down as a niche performer. Her performances and personality transcend any fetish, allowing her to be known for her work first and appearance second.
In an Editor’s Choice review of the Bonnie star vehicle Rambone (DreamZone), XBIZ Executive Managing Editor Dan Miller writes in the December issue of XBIZ Premiere that “Anyone familiar with the 1982 classic First Blood will find it hard not to smile when they see porn bad-ass Bonnie Rotten wearing the iconic red bandana and strapped with that menacing survival knife that Sly Stallone made famous.
“Rotten once again shows she is simply an irresistible screen presence.”
Bonnie’s rise to the top since exploding onto the scene in the fall of 2012 has been remarkable and she is clearly among the industry’s top performers, if not the top. In a post-Bonnie adult business it appears the glass ceiling for alt-models has been shattered forever.
Bonnie has an incredible 24 pending awards nominations—19 for the AVN Awards, 4 for the XBIZ Awards, and 1 for the Erotic Lounge Awards. Earlier this year she pocketed three NightMoves Awards trophies, three Inked Awards (including Female Performer of the Year) and Hottest New Girl at the Sex Awards.
