Steele’s Win Packs a Wallop For Director of the Year
VENICE, CA – It’s a high compliment to have your talent recognized as outstanding in its field, but to be singled out as “The Best”, is an extraordinary honor and that title was bestowed upon Bluebird Films’ Nicholas Steele at last night’s XBiz Awards. In a star-studded ceremony at the legendary Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Steele blew away the competition by winning the top award of Director of the Year – Individual Project for the 2010 blockbuster Batfxxx: Dark Night.
Taking the stage with Bluebird beauty and Batfxxx starlet Madelyn Marie, the veteran director shared the accolades with his “Katwoman” and humbly thanked his cast and crew in addition to XBiz and the sellers and buyers for their appreciation of his work. “I’ve been doing this for a long time,” said the industry legend. “And it’s really satisfying to put together my experience with new technology and fresh concepts in projects that are not only up to my own high standards, but also appreciated by critics and fans alike. I am very grateful to have the best owner in the business in Paul Chaplin.”
Before the award-winning director and his starlet were able to return to their seats, the Bluebird entourage was once again called onstage to accept the Best Special Effects award for Batfxxx. Studio directors Martha Washington and Marc Twain expressed their thanks to everyone who contributed to the extensive work on the outstanding title that has garnered so much attention and praise. Company owner and the title’s Jo-Kerr Paul Chaplin celebrated the win from his lair in the UK, where he’s already formulating plans for the studio’s next big hit.
One of Steele’s irons in the fire for 2011 is the emergence of Bluebird’s “Seductions” line from the archives of Nicholas Steele Productions, commencing with the release of Dirty Little Secrets.
Tonight, in conjunction with XBiz and joined by Victoria Lawson, Lily Karter, and Lizz Tayler, Madelyn Marie and Bluebird Films will host a party at the Cutting Room in West Hollywood, celebrating the studio’s amazing and successful year. This fun-filled event starts at 9:30 pm and continues until partygoers run out of steam. Industry will be admitted by recognition and are suggested to arrive early to avoid being denied entry due to capacity restrictions. All female talent will be admitted along with their guests.
